Joel Rintala

Joel Rintala is breakout star forward for the Australian Kookaburras field hockey team, who exploded onto the international hockey team after scoring back-to-back hat-tricks in just his second and third international games!

​

Debuting for Australia at the 2023 FIH Pro League miniseries, Joel scored a hat-trick in just 21 minutes in his second game which helped Australia defeat New Zealand on ANZAC day. Only days later, Joel repeated his incredible hot-streak with a second hat-trick against Great Britain, including a last minute equalizer that sent the game to a shootout and eventual win for Australia! Joel was awarded back-to-back man of the match, and made a statement in front of selectors leading into the Paris 2024 Olympic Games!

Joel is also a member of the Brisbane Blaze in Australia’s Sultana Bran Hockey One League. In 2018, he won an Australian Hockey League championship, and was the HockeyOne Top Goal Scorer in 2022! He previously played for the NT Stingers and Queensland Blades.

Joel spent several years as a Australian Development Squad Player before his debut, and previously won Gold at the 2017 Sultan of Johor Cup in Bahran for the U21 Australian team.

​

Joel’s sights are now firmly set on securing his position in the Kookaburra’s 2024 Paris Olympics team!
