​Chris McHugh is an Australian beach volleyball star. He has achieved 2x Commonwealth Games golds in 2022 and 2018, was a 2020 Olympian, and is in the top 10 Beach Volleyball teams in the World.

A mainstay of the Australia national team, Chris is currently partnered with teammate Paul Burnett, nicknamed Team McBurn. The pair make a tantalizing duo – who just recently won Gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, UK.

Chris has played over 600 matches throughout his career. He is a six-time Australian Champion, won numerous Beach Volleyball World Tours and Championships across the globe, has been a part of the Number One ranked team in Asia/Oceania, and was an Olympian at the 2020 Tokyo games. Chris’s most outstanding achievement has been his two CommGames gold medals; the first with Schumann in front of a home crowd at the 2018 Gold Coast games and the second with Burnett only weeks ago.

Away from competition, Chris serves as vice president of his first club, the Henley Hawks Volleyball Club, where he mentors young athletes, speaks at schools and works as an advocate for local volleyball. Chris remains tightly associated with the AIS serving as a Share a Yarn Ambassador, a program fostering connections and education with the ATSI community.
