Belle Dawes

Only 21-years-old, Belle Dawes is a promising midfielder for the Brisbane Lions AFLW side with an unbridled passion for footy.

​

Best known for her energetic and charismatic personality, and on-field grit and determination, Belle is a favorite amongst fans and teammates for what she brings as both a player and young leader for the Lions club. Despite only playing three seasons, Belle has put together quite the resume, already cementing herself as a 2021 AFLW Premiership Player, 2021 AFLW Rising Star Nominee, and a member of the 2021 and 2022 AFLPA 22under22 Squad.

With no girls to compete against, Belle spent her youth competing in boys’ competitions, which taught her from an early age the importance of confidence and toughness as an aspiring athlete. Belle would then go on to play for Maroochydore in the QWAFL, before signing to the Brisbane Lions Academy and ultimately being drafted by the Lions with the 15th pick in the 2019 draft.

 

Self-assured, hardworking and humble, Belle is a true gem and an outstanding role-model for female athletes across Australia.
